What you get
The crop is made at the picture's own resolution, not at the size shown on screen, so a photo from a phone comes back full quality.
- The format is kept
- A PNG stays a PNG and keeps its transparency. A JPG stays a JPG.
- Ratios, if you want them
- 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 lock the shape while you place the box.

Questions people ask
Does cropping lose quality?
The pixels you keep are the original pixels — nothing is scaled. A JPG is re-encoded once, which is very slightly lossy; a PNG is not lossy at all. The crop happens at the picture's full resolution, not at the size shown on screen.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size?
Not directly — this tool crops to a shape and shows you the size it produces. To hit an exact figure, crop to the right ratio here and then use the image resizer, which takes exact dimensions.
Do my pictures get uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the picture, crops it and hands it straight back. We record only anonymous counts — how many images, how many bytes — and never a filename or any pixel.
